Recognition - Valerie Knoblauch

Valerie Knoblauch's involvement in the tourism industry and her community has been ongoing over the course of her career at Finger Lakes Visitors Connection. Here is a list of some of the outside organizations that she has been recognized by for endeavors on their behalf.

Local Recognition

  • Youth Museum of the Finger Lakes. March 31, 1990. For deepest appreciation for the idea, the leadership and for being "clerk of the works" for making the dream happen.
  • Youth Museum of the Finger Lakes. 1990 – 1992. Recognized as a founding trustee and for President's commitment to the organization.
  • Resolution of Commendation from the Town of Canandaigua for her assistance in the development of Onanda Park. 1993. Citation indicated that on behalf of the people of the Town of Canandaigua in sincerest appreciation for the (work) given in achieving a marvelous goal – the Development of Onanda Park, A Place of Beauty.
  • Athena Award 2001. Athena is a national award recognizing outstanding personal and professional contributions to a community.
  • Rotary Club of Canandaigua Four Way Test Award for Outstanding Vocational Service. 2001.
  • Thompson Health. Certificate of appreciation for efforts and dedicated service to the Board of Directors. 2004. Finger Lakes Lakes Community Care Network.
  • Adjunct faculty at Rochester Institute of Technology in the School of Food and Hotel Management. 1996 – 1998 and 2003.
  • Canandaigua City School District Board of Education. 1991-Present. Board President from 1998 – 2001.
  • Chamber of Commerce and the Business and Professional Women of Canandaigua as a woman of distinction for Community Service. 1998.

State

  • Member of the Year Award from the New York State Travel and Vacation Association. 1992. For untiring loyalty and dedication to the organization.
  • New York State Travel and Vacation Association for her commitment as President.
  • The I Love New York Individual Achievement Award. 1996. For significant contributions to the advancement of the Travel and tourism Industry of New York State by having rendered outstanding personal and direct service to the promotion and development of travel.
  • Member of the Year Award from the New York State Travel and Vacation Association. 1998. For outstanding service and professional commitment.

National

  • Selected as a New York State delegate to the White House Conference on Travel and Tourism. 1995.
  • Certified Tour Professional Designation earned from the National Tour Association. 1991.
  • Travel Industry Association of America. 2001. For service to the travel industry as a member of the Board of Directors for 2000 and 2001.
  • Golden Gavel from the Travel Industry Association of America 2001 For her outstanding leadership and dedicated service as the NCDO Chair from 1999 – 2001.

During the time of building of Belhurst Castle, an old woodworker’s tradition was to carve your fellow workers. So, yes, we do have faces in the wood – there are 2 on the main staircase, 2 on the great hall fireplace, 2 in the castle lounge, 2 in the music room and 1 under the porte cochere
